Structural design is one of the main tasks of civil engineers. In this framework, the Construction Engineering Research Group of Hasselt University (Faculty of Engineering Technology) focuses its research activity on the development and optimization of innovative hybrid structural solutions combining different materials such as concrete, masonry, steel and timber. In order to reinforce the academic staff, the research group seeks a candidate (full-time) able to support these developments, in particular for what regards the design of non-conventional connection systems between structural components made of different materials.
The candidate will be in charge of teaching duties in the Bachelor and Master of Industrial Sciences (joint educational program of Hasselt University and KU Leuven).
The candidate will initiate and carry out innovative research in the field of structural design with a special emphasis on connections implying different materials. The candidate will also be responsible for attracting research projects and supervising PhD researchers in the broad field of structural design and construction. He/she will develop a regional and international network with public and private stakeholders active in the field of structural design and construction. He/she will also actively contribute to the development of the research and services activities, along other things in the frame of the new structural laboratory of the UHasselt (Application Centre Concrete and Construction).
You can only apply online up to and including 30 June 2019.
The selection procedure consists of a preselection based on application file, an interview and a test lesson / presentation.
