Here more than 35,000 students and 5,000 staff are active within science, the humanities and the social sciences.The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, MMK is one of the biggest departments at the Faculty of Natural Sciences with about 130 employees and 200 students. The teaching focuses on solid state chemistry, materials chemistry and modern characterzation techniques. The main research areas are porous materials, bio-based materials and electron microscopy.
The project "Lignin-based functional materials" project aims to develop sustainable modification of ligning for added stability and functionality in nanostructured materials.
The position involves research at the intersection of renewable polymer chemistry, bio-based material synthesis, and characterization of novel functions in energy and environmental applications. All of these activities in sustainable materials chemistry should comply with the principles of green chemistry.
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills in chemistry applied to natural polymers, colloids and interfaces, and fabrication and advanced characterization of bio-based materials.
Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date in November 2019 or as per agreement.
