The Institute of Economic Research, University of Neuchâtel, invites applications for a PhD position in the following fields: environmental/energy economics, experimental economics, and behavioral economics. Job description: The objective of the position is to write research papers in applied economics, combining theory and empirical analysis to inform the design of public policies, and ultimately earn a PhD in Economics. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Lanz (https://sites.google.com/site/brunolanzwebpage/) and Prof. Milad Zarin, and will contribute to a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) research project on the design of energy and environmental policy. While the main focus of the position will be on research, the successful candidate will also provide support for teaching in the Institute of Economic Research, and participate in the activities organized by the Institute (incl. our weekly seminar series). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take core PhD-level courses in economics as part of her/his doctoral work (https://szgerzensee.ch/courses/swiss-program-for-beginning-doctoral-students-in-economics).
The gross salary corresponds to 70% of the regulatory doctoral assistant salary at the University of Neuchâtel (https://www2.unine.ch/srh/page-37388.html). Applicant profile: The candidate should hold (or be close to finish) a master’s degree in economics and have a good intuition for empirical economic research. The candidate will demonstrate a strong potential to produce high-quality research, which demands an excellent command of English. A professional experience and knowledge of French for teaching duties is an advantage.
