Salary £27511 to £33797 per annum, (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £30942 with relevant PhD).
Applications are invited for the above position to join the Manufacturing Metrology Team (MMT), as part of the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing, at the University of Nottingham. The Manufacturing Metrology Team conducts fundamental research to enable the next-generation of in-line metrology tools for advanced manufacturing methods with focus on precision manufacturing. MMT has recently been awarded a European grant to develop in-process measurement toold for zero defect manufacturing.
The research associate/fellow will conduct industrial research into practical development of surface texture analysis technologies for in-process measurement and control, including with large data sets. It is desirable that the candidate has a track record of working with industrial partners.
Candidates must have an excellent PhD degree (or about to obtain) in, preferably physics or engineering. Strong skills in optics are essential. It is also expected that the candidate will demonstrate high level communication and organisational skills and an aptitude for liaison with industrial partners.
This full-time post is available from October 2020 and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 2 years. Job share arrangements may be considered.
