The following job is open at the University of Oulu: 4-year doctoral student position
The doctoral student fellowship provides an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to contribute to research seeking to improve natural resource governance in resource-rich countries in the Global South. The focus of the Doctoral student project is on the material and discursive struggles over access, control and management of high-value natural resources and resource revenues and how these struggles relate to information disclosure, transparency, and the formation of ‘agency’ through the making of citizenship. The Doctoral student will use an innovative methodological approach that combines qualitative fieldwork and quantitative field experiments. The doctoral student will facilitate development of information innovations by citizens, such as new ways of thinking about information disclosure of natural resource management, and contribute to the testing of these innovations by using randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The fieldwork and RCTs will be conducted in Indonesia.
The salary will be based on the levels 2-4 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 46.3 % of the job-specific component. The salary is in practice roughly 2328 – 3205 € per month, depending on the progress in the studies, increase in the qualifications and responsibilities over the doctoral studies.
