As the largest institute within the Fraunhofer Group for Information and Communication, the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Exploitation IOSB has been very successful in implementing the latest research results in ready-to-use solutions. These solutions offer our customers direct cash-equivalent benefits and improve their long-term competitiveness. The IOSB researches and develops innovative concepts, methods and systems for industry, medium-sized business and clients from the public sector. We always focus on the task at hand and the customer’s problem right from the very beginning. The IOSB was created as at 1/1/2010 at the recommendation of the German Science Council in 2007 from the FGAN Institute for Optronics and Pattern Recognition FOM in Ettlingen and the Fraunhofer Institute for Information and Data Processing IITB.
2010 marked the merger of the two previous IITB and FOM institutes to form the IOSB. The adjacent graphics provide current and in part, historical IOSB figures including its institutes in Ilmenau and Lemgo.
Steady growth in personnel and expenditure as well as a substantial improvement in the volume of orders from industry defined 2010. Earnings from the private enterprises consequently increased by 1.4 million euros. The Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) accounted for approximately 18 million euros. The pie chart “Basic funding” accounts for funds from the BMVg and BMBF.
200 student assistants were also employed in addition to the number of core employees depicted in the graphic.
